Samford Women Trail Murray State In Second At BSC Shootout

CALERA, Ala. ---- The Samford women's golf team sits in second place after day one of the Ann Rhoads BSC Shootout. The Bulldogs, shooting 318 after the first round, are just one stroke behind leader Murray State.

While Samford chases the lead, three other teams are hot on the heels of the Bulldogs. Berry College (321) trails just three strokes behind Samford in third, while Montevallo (323) is five strokes behind and Tennessee Tech (328) is ten strokes behind in fifth.

Leading the Bulldogs in round one was Katelyn Stanier. The sophomore shot 76 in round one, shooting five over par to land in a tie at fifth place. Courtney Warr, playing as an individual, is in tenth place and shooting 78, while Maria Troche and Kelly O'Connell join Stanier and Warr in the top 20. The two Bulldogs sit in a tie at 15th place, shooting 80 at nine over par.

Heather Arnold sits at a tie at 28th place, shooting 82 at 11 over par, and Sara Hunt rounds out the playing five at a tie at 47th place, shooting 85. Stephanie Larson, who is also playing as an individual, sits at a tie for 32nd place, shooting 83.

Play in the two-day tournament concludes Tuesday
